What this engagement covers.

The Concrete Consultancy engagement is a closed-loop mix-to-pour programme. We design the mix, prove it on the plant, audit the process that produces it, and stay until field results match design intent — not lab numbers.

§ 02 / Methodology

A three-pass design-to-plant cycle.

A mix that works on paper but fails on the pan mixer is a failure. We design, prove on the plant, then trend field cubes — closing the loop that most mix designers leave open.

Six-stage flow from material characterisation through plant trials to field strength trending. IS 10262 (Indian) and ACI 211 (American) paths converge into the production mix card — never released until field cubes confirm it.

Mix Proportioning

Material characterisation (sieve analysis, moisture, specific gravity, admixture compatibility) followed by IS 10262 design with 2–3 alternatives bracketing cost and workability.

Plant Trial Mixes

On-plant trial batches with calibrated admixture dosing, verified slump, air content, density and 7/28-day strength. Designs are signed off only after trial card is closed.

Plant-floor experience

Mix proportions are designed by an engineer who has actually run the batch panel, not by a graduate modelling SCMs in a spreadsheet. We know what admixtures do at 38 °C and what fines content does at 7-day strength.

Defensible recommendations

Every mix decision is traceable back to material properties, trial data and IS 10262 assumptions. If a strength fail happens, the design logic is on file — not buried in emails.

Q.01

Do you design mixes against IS 10262 only, or also ACI / Eurocode?

IS 10262 is the default for Indian projects and what we recommend first. Where the client specifies ACI 211.1, Eurocode 2 or a project-specific performance spec, we design against that and keep IS 10262 as the second reference for cross-check. The deliverables carry whichever code the project mandates.
Q.02

Can you bring a trial mix to our plant, or do we need to send samples?

Typically we run the trial at your plant with your materials — this is the only way the mix reflects reality. Where transport of small quantities is required (e.g. special admixtures, UHPC powders), we arrange that with the plant in advance and bring what we need to site.
Q.03

How do you handle SCM substitutions when source quality varies?

Every PFA / GGBS / silica fume batch is characterised on receipt — LOI, fineness, activity index — before it enters a mix design. We qualify each source quarterly and reject batches outside spec rather than absorb them into a design assumption.
Q.04

Can you troubleshoot a low-strength failure on an existing mix?

Yes. Send us the failing cube report and your current mix card; we run a root-cause review (materials, batching, sampling, curing). Most low-strength failures are batching / sampling issues, not mix-design — but we do not assume that; we verify.
